Focus Assistant?

Self-accountability is hard, so why not outsource it? A Focus Assitant’s sole mission is just that: helping you stay focused on your work and accountable to your goals. That means more brainpower for action items, and less for procrastinating!

 

Working side-by-side on a video call, your FA helps you break down your work into manageable chunks, while also monitoring and motivating you. They provide a written report of what happens each work session, reinforcing the tried-and-tested science of accountability. Having a new bond with a friendly face who is genuinely invested in your success doesn’t hurt either! All in all, you’re left feeling empowered to work solo, without feeling alone.

How it Works

Before

  • You select a Focus Assistant, book a session, and pay for your session ahead of time.

  • Your new Focus Assistant will reach out to with you with friendly, motivating, and professional messages. 

During

  • In the first few minutes, your FA helps you break the work session down into bite-sized tasks, considering the time you have available. 

     

  • Together, you set a goal and reward for the end of the session. 

     

  • You work while sharing your screen and keeping your microphone ON and your camera ON. 

     

  • You maintain a conversational rapport with your FA, thinking out loud and narrating your actions as you feel comfortable.  

     

  • Your FA monitors your workflow and takes notes. They keep you from getting distracted and help you stay on track with encouraging affirmations and support. 

After

  • The work is done!!!
  • You give your Focus Assistant a review and send an optional tip for exceptional service. 
  • Your FA’s notes are uploaded to your profile as a session report which you can view within 8 hours of the session. 
  • Your FA is automatically added to your list so you can work with them again in the future.

The Pay-As-You-Go rate for individual Work Sessions:

$20/hour

Purchase a membership for a lower hourly rate:

  • 10 session hours per month 
  • $18/hour for additional hours

FAQs

How do payments work?

You always pay for your work sessions beforehand. Memberships are purchased at the beginning of the month. Pay-as-you-go sessions are paid for before the session begins.

How do I reschedule a session before it starts?

You can reschedule a session within 24 hours of the start time. Just email your Focus Assistant.

Can I schedule an overnight session?

Session times are determined by FA availability, so there’s always the possibility of sessions at all hours of the day.

What if I don’t show up to my work session?

It’s always important to let your FA know within a reasonable time if you can’t make it to a session. If this does occur, half of your payment goes to your FA. The other half is added to the failure fund which gets donated to nonprofits and charities.

Can I leave my session early?

Yes, but you won’t get a refund. If you finish your task early, start another task!

What if my work involves sensitive information, like doing my taxes or online banking? Or what if it's NSFW?

We are very serious about your privacy and personal information. In any session, you have no obligation to share your screen or inform your FA of the details of your work. 

What if I don’t know where to begin with my work? I have decision paralysis!

Tell your FA about any concerns you’re having. They can help you build a workflow that’s best suited for your needs and grounded in tried-and-true principles of accountability.

What if my Focus Assistant doesn’t do their job?

All FAs are strictly vetted for professionalism and client success. If you are at all unhappy with their conduct, you can request a refund within 2 weeks of the session. An admin will review the footage of your session and take appropriate measures. Session footage is only stored for a limited time, so refunds must be requested in a timely manner.
